How to do it and how to teach it

Thought about trying yoga or haven’t been to a yoga class in many years? This class is geared toward 60+ Beginners who want to get into or back into yoga in a supportive, lower intensity environment. This class will teach yoga principles and basic/modified yoga poses to help enhance daily living and your other current activities.

Yoga teachers are also welcome to get ideas and ask questions about teaching this clientele of students.

William Hunt was a former teacher trainer at the Temple of Kriya Yoga from 1995 - 2005 and presently teaches yoga at the Yoga Centre in Oak Park. One of his specialties now is team teaching Yoga 60+ with Annie Walters. Annie Walters earned her certification at the Temple in 2004 and specializes in transformational yoga therapy and restorative yoga.

BIOS

Annie Walter DDS, 200 E-RYT completed her 200 hr studies with the Temple of Kriya Yoga in 2005. She is a registered experienced yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and a registered Relax and Renew Advanced level trainer with Judith Hanson Lasater. Her studies include Hatha yoga with Kim Schwartz, Eischens yoga with Kari Tomashik and Feldenkrais techniques with Julie Francis. By incorporating her yoga studies, Feldenkrais technique and experience from her clinical practice of forty years on geriatric patients she taught yoga to the over 60 age group for the past ten years. Besides teaching in Oak Park Yoga Center, she also assists in the restorative teacher training program in Bloom yoga studio.

William Hunt was certified to teach yoga at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in 1976 and became an ordained Swami in 1978. He was the director of the Hatha Yoga Teacher Trainer Program at the Temple from 1995 to 2005. He also owned and directed Oak Park Yoga for another ten years and is presently teaching yoga classes at the Yoga Centre in Oak Park where he organizes yearly workshops with his friend, Kim Schwartz. William continues his enthusiasm to explore and develop his practice and teaching. One of the specialty classes he and Annie Walter are now teaching is “Beginning Yoga for 60+”.
