"Hips “openers” … how to create mobility versus instability."

Hips stability and mobility directly impacts the whole body, and is essential foundation of a yoga practice. When we create stability, mobility, and range of motion of the legs and hips, lower back, and the abdominals are freed up to function with fluidity, power, and ease, and the breath can be free and expensive. However if the hips openers are practiced without alignment, rather than creating space and mobility in the hip joints, we can create instability. In this workshop we will explore the hip joints in standing and seated poses and learn the tools of alignment that will help you develop an understanding and awareness of how to practice hips “openers" and other asanas to develop greater mobility in the hips while sustaining the stability.
